GD-2 PLUS

Sometimes a great idea comes along that refuses to be ignored. Our GD-2 Plus family is one of these ideas. Geometry calculations like angles, skewed points, lines, distances, radii, perpendicularity or parallelism, are available by a simple button press. GD-2 Plus led the industry in using LCD readouts for a display system. This means that GD-2 Plus operates in a logical manner and includes: part drawing capability; icon based operation; help screens; and many more features previously available only on computer based systems.

GD-2 Plus is capable of being interfaced to virtually any optical comparator or measuring micro-scope. Caliper Designs, Inc. has developed internal interfaces for all scale or encoder systems.
 

The GD-2 Plus series is easy to install. All you need are a few simple tools and a basic understanding of the system interconnects. GD-2 Plus is supplied with connectors that match the encoders on the comparator. Installation is a matter of mounting the unit and connecting the encoders.
 

Our companion, built in, Edge Detector further enhances the efficiency of inspection by automatically entering points. There is no need to stop and carefully place crosshairs before pressing the enter button. With our edge detector, you merely move across the edge.
 

Auto-Enter is standard on all GD-2 Plus units. This option takes a point after you have started a measurement routine, and the comparator or micro-scope has stopped moving. This mode greatly increases the inspection speed especially when coupled with our Looping function.
 

GD-2 Plus measures 12 X 5.8 X 10 inches and weighs approximately 9 lbs.
All versions of GD-2 Plus are available immediately.

GD-2 Plus is the latest in 2D inspection technology. Caliper Designs, Inc. has used an LCD display with "Supertwist" technology to enhance inspector capabilities. The LCD display, coupled with our alignment, looping and radius functions are enough to justify the purchase of GD-2 Plus. GD-2 Plus's additional capabilities are "icing on the cake".
 

Looping
Geo-DRO 2 introduced the looping capability into 2D inspection. Caliper Designs has provided this function in all of its 3D products. Looping has been very well received as a major time saver. Looping coupled with Auto-Enter provides fast accurate inspection without all the expense associated with an edge detector. We are proud to have Looping as part of GD-2 Plus's capabilities.
 

Auto-Enter
Auto-Enter is unique to Caliper Designs' products, and is a major time saver. Using Auto-Enter, and inspector can concentrate on targeting points and doesn't have to stop and press the enter key for each point. Our benchmark test is measuring five, four point circles. Normal mode takes about 2 minutes to measure the five circles using four points each. Using Looping and Auto-Enter, the same task can be accomplished in approximately 1.2 minutes. An inspector familiar with the GD-2 Plus, would do even better.
 

Alignment
Fixturing, or aligning the part to the stage or machine axis is no longer required. GD-2 Plus can perform several alignment functions including:

Radius or Diameter Measurement
Measuring radii or diameters is as simple as targeting 3 or more points. GD-2 Plus will calculate the radius and the diameter from these points. GD-2 Plus will also provide the center location.
