evolving technologies, CDI developed PCI-ScaleTrack to allow current PC’s to be
connected to all encoder systems.

PCI-ScaleTrack is one of the fastest quadrature counting systems
available. Using PCI-ScaleTrack, systems can keep up with a quadrature signal
with state changes as often as every 250 NS (4.0 MHz). PCI-ScaleTrack has a
common internal event latch which can be used for touch probes or foot
switches.
PCI-ScaleTrack also has individual event latches for each axis which can
be used for index mark inputs. In addition PCI-ScaleTrack contains an 8 bit
output port and a separate 8 bit input port. All these controls can be
accessed by a proprietary DLL, which is included.
Needless to say, PCI-ScaleTrack can accommodate most encoder counting and
positioning tasks.

The software development kit included with each card so that you can get started

Electrical
PCI ScaleTrack is designed using surface mount LSI technology resulting in fewer
parts and better reliability.
Power requirements; +5VDC, +/-12VDC obtained from CPU
Power is provided on the 50 pin I/O connector for powering adaptor boxes or
connecting directly to square wave encoders.
Computer power available; +5VDC, +/-12VDC (fused @ 2A)
Count rate is approximately 4.8MHZ
Connects to external system via 50 pin D-sub female connector
Power supply connections are available on the 50 pin output connector for scale
and interface power. The +5 connections are not fused. The +/- 12 volt
connections are fused at 2 amps. Connection to PCI-ScaleTrack is exactly the
same as connecting to our legacy ISA counter card. PCI-ScaleTrack connects to
all our interface units allowing PCI-ScaleTrack to be connected to any encoder
technology.

PCI-ScaleTrack is housed on one PCI format 4 layer printed circuit board.
PCI-ScaleTrack measures 6.875in (175MM) long and is a standard height at 4.2in
(107mm)
PCI-ScaleTrack is the latest counter card available from Caliper Designs, Inc.
PCI-ScaleTrack is engineered to directly interface to all of Caliper Designs
interpolators and interfaces.
PCI-ScaleTrack connects directly to existing touch probes, and can keep up with
a quadrature signal generating state changes every 800ns (1.2mhz count rate).
PCI-ScaleTrack accepts TTL level, single ended quadrature signals from any
source. This allows a 25 foot capability without an adaptor.
